The first thing you notice about Il Moran is the bed-tents are very, very large.

Every tent, they say, is a honeymoon tent: no worries whatsoever about cavorting around wildly in these rooms. And if space is a luxury, then Ilmoran can justifiably claim to provide it. The bathrooms at the back of the bed-tents are pretty big too, with pedestal baths right in the middle.

In the public areas at Il Moran, the scaling up goes far, and high, and wide -

the tents are ginormous such that they aren't really tents anymore, the furniture and fittings look dwarfed and it has an institutional feel, but you wont feel claustrophobic, at least. The décor in the main areas of Il Moran doesn't really conform to any particular style, or quality - although the bed-tents are much more pulled together - with Murray Levitt's remarkable wild wood Safari Style furniture - beds made of entire fallen tree trunks. But beware, one false move and even the smallest chair could crush you to death.

Il Moran is protected on all sides by tropical woodland - providing ample shade, but obviously you don't get any huge views as a result.

This is quite often the case with safari camps though, lodges in the reserve are encouraged to tuck themselves away to keep the environment unspoilt and shelter from the elements - sun, wind, dust, storms - is valuable.
