It's noticeable that, from the outside, the cottages at Ngong House are rather unprepossessing.

However, there's a certain value to the fact that this is in stark contrast to the interiors, which are without fail beautifully designed, full of creative touches and finished to a very high standard. This is nowhere more the case than the dining area, which from outside looks like a drab, grey coloured rondavel, but as soon as you open the door reveals an elaborate and stunningly proportioned room, ringed with small open fires and centring on a large open fireplace. Highly unusual and totally unexpected.

There is a main house which is where you park on arrival. Once more, from the outside it looks presentable, but gives no clue as to the impressive standards within.

This main area focuses on a sophisticated drawing room, with fireplace and leads out to a terrace with fireplace. On the lawn outside is a campfire where guests can have a drink before dinner. It's no exaggeration to say that Paul the owner has a small obsession with fire.

There is no single style to the rooms at Ngong House, many, but not all of which are on stilts, rather the layout and variety of designs suggests that the shape of the hotel evolved as time went on.
