Camp Richards Tents Stone Inside

The tents at Richards camp are traditional east African safari tents from the outside, large and spacious, with shady verandahs at the front. Inside they've clearly benefited from designer Liz Fuscoe's creative touch, so they have contemporary feel, with a clean and uncluttered look. There are only 7 tents at Richards camp, and they're laid out in a rough crescent shape in amongst scattered woodland. There's no view to speak of, particularly compared to the knockout views from places such as Sarunibut this is a very different style of camp, and what you come here for is an altogether less formal, more homely feeling. The upside is that you are secluded, not only from any passing traffic, but also from your neighbours.

The main mess at Richards camp is like a very comfortable sitting room in the bush; not overly large, but well proportioned and, like the rest of the camp, well designed. It centres around a huge fireplace which is encircled by large and comfortable sofas and armchairs.
The bathrooms are not only en-suite, within the tent, but have stone walls and sand stone floors. This not only makes them look good, but removes any resemblance to camping. Showers are supplied by a bucket outside, but operated in a conventional way inside and the loos are straightforward flush ones.
