The rooms at Sabuk sit high above a deep gorge, on a tight bend in the Ewaso N'giro River. From the veranda in your room, the view literally falls away below you dramatically. This is what the view must be like from an eagle's nest.

The rooms at Sabuk are all slightly different in design, but basic construction is in rock, with elaborately shaped pieces of wild wood and thatched roofs.

A great deal of creative energy has gone into making the cottages and someone's clearly had fun indulging their inner child. However, the brilliance of the rooms at Sabuk is that they haven't attempted to compete with the real star here, which is everything outside the rooms; the river, the views and the African outdoors.

Every room at Sabuk is wide open to the vista, many of them have star beds on the verandah, so on a fine night (and most of them are here) you can lie out under a mozy net gazing at the constellations in the African night sky.

Bathrooms too take full advantage of the stunning local scenery. One or two rooms have open air baths that more or less hang over the abyss; make sure you remember which side you got in…

The rooms are powered by Solar power, and water is heated by fire wood heaters.
