When you consider a riding safari in Kenya, ask your self if you'd be confident enough to gallop out of trouble, should you encounter it. If the answer to this is yes and the idea excites you, then you're almost certainly going to enjoy Tristan Voorspuy's high octane riding safaris. For those after something less hair-raising there are plenty of superb riding operations in Kenya. Many of the small safari lodges and bush homes have stables and can offer riding safaris as part of their activities.Chyulu HillsThe wide open rolling terrain at the foot of the Chyulu Hills begs to be ridden across - there's something of a wild west feeling to these parts. To ride out amongst the plains animals - giraffe, hartebeest, wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelles and Grants, not to mention large numbers of zebra is one of the more exciting ways of seeing these parts. The Chyulu Hills themselves, at up to 8000 ft, are also dramatic and home to some stunning scenery, such as the volcanic craters and mist forest near the summit. You can take day rides from Ol Donyo Wuas or Ride Kenya, based here can organise spectacular full-on riding safaris supported by a traditional mobile safari camp. Laikipia PlateauAlong with walking and camel safaris, riding is one of the reasons to come to Laikipia. Places such as Lewa Wilderness Trails are both scenically stunning and hold very good populations of game, so you’ll be able to ride amongst wild game, which is an exceptional way of game viewing.
